The bishop Maurice
of Sully :
Maurice of Sully is original of Sully
on Loire. He becomes Bishop of Paris in 1160; it is a preacher
and a well-known theologian as well as a prudent administrator
that enrich the bishopric. It is what permits him to finance
the works of the Cathedral of which he/it launches the yard
since his arrival on the Episcopal seat. He is sustained
strongly by the King of France Louis VII then by his son
Philippe-Augustus, even so Saint Bernard opposes to this
imposing project.
To the time where Maurice of Sully hires the construction
of the Cathedral Paris became already the capital of the
Capitan state. He wishes to benefit some to give a more
important position to the bishop of Paris (that depends
the archbishop of Sense to this time).
Maurice of Sully died in 1196.
