GUSTAVE EIFFEL (1832 – 1923) :
Gustave Eiffel is an engineer, born December 15, 1832 in Dijon. He constructs his first bridge on Gironde at the age of 26 years.
In 1867, he creates his shops and build some bridges all over the world (the bridge Maria Pia on the Douro in Portugal...), of the viaducts (viaduct of Garabit in the central Massif...), of the metallic frameworks (Inexpensive, Credit Lyonnais), the Galliera museum, the station of Budapest, the Carnot high school, the dome of the observatory of Nice, the frame of the statue of the Liberty in the New York port.
To 55 years, when he constructs the Eiffel Tower, he is at the summit of his glory. Passionate of sciences, he installs some laboratories on the. Tower. He is also at the origin of aerodynamics. He dies in 1923, at the age of 91 years.
