From Louis XV to our days
The new King is only a child. Septembre
9, Louis XV abandons Versailles to Vincennes. The Regent,
Philippe d’Orleans, leaves Versailles to get settled
in his Parisian residence of the Royal -Palace. The Court
gets settled to the Tuileries. Louis XV reinstalls in Versailles
in 1722. He is aged of 12 years. His long reign will be
an intense artistic activity period, marked by some demolitions,
During the Louis XVI reign, some plans are designed in view
of the palace partial reconstruction. At the end of the
former system, the palace will be the most luxurious royal
residence of all the Europe
The books and medals will join the National Library, the
clocks and scientific instruments, the school of the Arts
and Professions. Furniture will be put to the auction. In
1830, the palace is practically intact but in hazard. Louis-Philippe,
who wishes to avoid its destruction, decides to transform
it in a museum dedicated "the all France glories."
He assures financing by his own deniers. However he will
keep the Chapel, the Opera, the Ices Gallery and the essential
of the royal Apartments decoration. Then he will destroy
the most princes and courtiers Apartments.
Nowadays, a restoration systematic politics is undertaken,
to give back the hundred twenty survived pieces of the former
royal residence, their origin aspect and their furniture.
The Historic Galleries are composed of a hundred twenty
rooms.
