A world
network of nature
More than 1500 in the world, nearly 200 in Europe,
7 in France: the national parks form a world network of
spaces devoted to nature, carrying our origins and our future,
places privileged for scientific, teaching and entertaining
activities. The first, that of Yellowstone, was created
into 1872 in the U.S.A. Sweden follows this example in 1909.
After the second world war, an awakening is done in France:
Vanoise and Port-Cros are born in 1963, the Guadeloupe,
the last-born, in 1989. Thirty years after the birth of
Vanoise, the assessment is positive: the biological and
landscape diversity of these protected spaces, where nature
opens out with complete freedom, is the proof! That is why
the creation of other national parks is being studied.
A memory for the future
A national park is:
An exceptional territory: a landscape, ecological and cultural
inheritance. A legal and social space divided into 2 zones
with specific attributions, that are central and peripheral.
Professionals of nature who exert a team work within the
framework of a complementarity: guard-monitors, scientists,
communicators,, managers. Goals: to protect nature, the
landscapes, the sites and biological diversity in the spaces
managed by the park; to place the "inheritance park"
at the disposal of the public of today and to transmit it
to the future generations; to take part in the development
of behaviors of respect towards nature and its balances.

A behavior for each park
The national park regulation is careful to prevent all works
and modifications susceptible of impairing the character
of the park;; it also forbids the abandonment of rubbish,
the wild animal disruption, the introduction of the dogs
the circulation of vehicles motor-driven out of road, withdrawals,
fire, the camping, fire arms, hunt. Specific Limitations
to each park come in complement (1). In fact, this regulation
concerns a code of good conduct which is connected quite
simply with a form of good citizenship adapted to the environment.
To crown it, isn't it the condition and the guarantee of
the freedom of each one?
