This new manner of approaching the world of the caves, out of all sporty constraints (no technical training or necessary physical conditions are required), was born much earlier than it is generally believed.
Indeed, one is informed through writings that since the 18th century, and more still in the 19th, the populations of areas rich in caves organized kinds of underground excursions. In the South of France one finds in a number of caves and sometimes extremely far from the entry, the names and the dates registered with the pencil on the walls. In fact, there are caves like mountai.

If the Everest or the Gouffre of Pierre St Martin, remains accessible only to specialists and sportsmen, it remains for all the others, for us multiple possibilities of approaching these natural environments. It is out of this report that the idea of the Underground Safaris was born. Neither usual visits of an arranged cave, nor sporting approach - caves, the Underground Safari is an underground excursion, accessible to all.
The conditions to take part are simple:
- To be curious
- not to hesitate to dirty his/her trousers and his shoes!
- To respect the underground environment

the Underground Safaris, are practised all the year (under ground the climate does not vary absolutely! ), the proposed circuits are, obviously, out of all risks of raw.
The Two underground sites where this new type of tourist activity are practised are the Cave of Trabuc (30), in the Cevennes, and the Goufre Géant of Cabrespine (11), close to Carcassonne, and are very hot cavities.
The ideal vestimentary suit consists of cotton clothing, with long sleeves.
To avoid nylon clothing, too preserving of perspiration. For the shoes: tennis shoe, tennis, pataugas, light shoes of excursion. Photographs or videos are recommended. To envisage a small back bag, or a belt bag for the bearing. The films must be at least 400 ISO. Flash or torchlights are essential.

A strong Point of this underground excursion: the easy advance in the bed even of the peaceful underground river (maximum 30 cm of water and no risk of raw! ), in the heart of an underground canyon dug in blue marble.

The Cave of Trabuc is the most important underground networkof the Cevennes. The circuit of the Underground Safari borrows the principal galleries, those traversed by the first inventors.
Trabuc, apart from its geological history, is a very varied cavity. Throughout the way, the shapes of galleries, the fillings, the crystals of gypsum or aragonite are of an astonishing variety. The way is chanted of passages that are also surprising (rock bridge, hrinkages, progression in large falls or along petrified cascades...).
There is Only one limitation imposed by nature to discover the cave; not to exceed... 110Kg!.
